What is in the Future for America?

 

    We are all or mostly all familiar with the lyrics of God Bless America.  And God has blessed America.   Again no one can deny this.  (I know that there are those that like to focus America's faults but America's imperfections can not take away from evidence that God has blessed this country.)

     

    But will God continue to bless America in the future?  The answer is "It depends."

     

    The conditions for God to bless us.

     

    2 Chron 7:14 (if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. ) 

     

    This verse has three parts.

    1. Humble Themselves
    2. Pray & Seek My Face
    3. Turn from their wicked ways.

     

    The first step is personal repentance.

    1. It is easy to blame others for the troubles we face, but God is calling each of us to repent of our sins, which are many.
      1. Righteous indignation is rarely righteous, and most often a cover for self-righteousness. 
        1. Mat 7:3 (Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?)
    1. When we humble ourselves and seek God through prayer God will hear our prayers.
      1. The proud have no place in God's Kingdom.
      2. Mat 19:30 (But many that are first will be last, and the last first)
      3. Isa 57:15 (For thus says the high and lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: "I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite.)

     

    Ten Things to do to be Blessed.

     

    James 4:7-10 (Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

    Draw near to God and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you men of double mind.  Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to dejection.  Humble yourselves before the Lord and he will exalt you. )

     

    1. Submit to God
      1. America wants God out of our lives
    1. Resist the devil
      1. America is doing the opposite
        1. Resisting God and embracing the devil
    1. Draw near to God
      1. Psl 73.28 (But for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, that I may tell of all thy works.)
    1. Cleanse your hands
      1. Heb 10:22 (let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. )
    1. Purify your hearts
      1. The heart is evil
    1. Be wretched
      1. Feel the disgust that your sin has caused
    1. Weep
      1. Cry tears of shame
    1. Mourn
      1. Understand what your sin has done and grieve over it
    1.  Dejected
      1. Cast yourself down from being proud
    1. Humble yourselves
      1. Acknowledge you are not in control, you do not have the power.
      2. Accept God and submit to Him

     

     

    What can we do as believers?

     

    1. We can showcase Christ.
      1. Live humbly, honoring God
      2. Giving God the glory for all He has done
    1. Repent
      1. Revival begins with God's people repenting and leading the way
    1. Pray
      1. The most powerful resource in the universe.
      2. Often it is the last thing we do, when praying should be the first thing we do
    1. Love
      1. Without love we are nothing
    1. Go
      1. Step out and get involved
